Any manager desires to have a high-performing and cohesive team that works collaboratively towards achieving the organization’s mission.
The success of such a team is greatly influenced by the interpersonal relationships among team members. How much do the team members feel like they belong? To what extent are they committed, inter-connected? Do they feel comfortable with each other? Do they enjoy working together?
Cohesive teams do not just happen, they are usually the product of work and building.
The first step towards fostering connection and cohesiveness among team members is to create opportunities for them to get to know each other better. The more familiar the team members are with each other, on all walks of life, the chances the team will work well together increase.
The main platform for the team is the team meetings.
The team meeting is intended not only for professional discussions on the burning issues, but it is also a good opportunity to form deeper connections between the team members.
How 2talk kits can help you?
Below are recommendations for using the 2talk kits to develop and deepen teamwork.
Option A:
To deepen acquaintance and other non-work-related discussion between team members.
Such a meeting can be stand-alone (a meeting dedicated to deepen the acquaintance and to have a slightly different discussion) or as an opening for a professional team meeting.
Preparation:
Before the meeting, the manager selects the relevant cards, such as: This is me, dreams and aspirations, appreciation, motivation from the 2talk kit.
During the meeting:
The manager begins by generally explaining the structure of today's conversation, and the goals (opportunity for a different kind of conversation, for deepening our acquaintance).
The manager then lays out the 2talk cards on the table, facing up so the questions are visible.
The manager invites each team member to select a card or two for themselves, representing what they want to discuss briefly during the meeting. It is recommended that the manager also selects a card or two for themselves.
Everyone takes turns sharing and talking about the chosen topics. The rest of the team members are invited to comment: respond, ask, express empathy, connect with the topic and more.
Option B:
A meeting dedicated to evaluating and discussing how the team works together.
Preparation:
Before the meeting, the manager sorts out and selects the cards he wishes to use from the 2talk kit.
Relevant categories for this team meeting: me and my colleagues, organizational feedback (and ask the participants to refer questions to the team and not to the organization as a whole)
